Requirements
To teach in a Spanish immersion classroom, teachers must meet the following requirements:
- Have the equivalent of a four-year bachelor’s degree in the United States
- Be a native speaker of Spanish
- Have experience teaching in a bilingual setting at the elementary level
- Be able to communicate in English with colleagues and parents in the U.S.
- Have formal training in education
- Have a driver’s license and driving experience
- Be eligible for an exchange visitor’s visa in the J-1 teacher category
