VIF Program

Host an International Elementary School Teacher

VIF teachers of the elementary grades are fully certified as elementary-level educators, but many also offer specialized skills and training in the age group with which they work. Large numbers of VIF teachers specialize in the early childhood age range, the developmental stages that are the foundation of later success.

In addition to the academic skills they bring to the classroom, VIF teachers at the elementary level bring cultural exposure and new experiences to students at a young age, igniting their curiosity about the world beyond their schools and communities.

VIF elementary school teachers are certified to teach in a variety of models, including internationally themed schools, immersion programs, and even International Baccalaureate schools.

All VIF teachers are deemed Highly Qualified under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Contact VIF to view all available Elementary Education teachers.

Meet Helen Crompton

Country: United Kingdom
Teaches in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, North Carolina

As a teacher in the United States, Helen Crompton weaves her British culture into lesson plans. In math, her students handle European currency, calculate exchange rates and experiment with different weights and measures. In literacy, they study English authors and playwrights. They hold Web conferences with subject-matter experts in the United Kingdom to learn about topics including World War II or Welsh mythology.

"Ms. Crompton is a valuable asset to our school and to the community" says Assistant Principal Amanda Crisp. "We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful educator who works diligently to promote cultural awareness and equity for all students."
