Invite the World into Your Classrooms

For more than twenty years, VIF has connected U.S. schools with international teachers, creating bridges of mutual understanding and educational growth for American school communities.

Rigorous Selection Process

Because teacher quality is one of the most important factors in student achievement, VIF has developed a scientifically validated process for international teacher selection. VIF conducted an occupation analysis to identify competencies crucial for successful performance as an international educator in U.S. public schools. This study involved several U.S. administrator and international educator focus groups and survey feedback from over 250 international teachers. These survey findings were the foundation for a comprehensive and cutting edge selection process and professional development training objectives for international educators.

Six major competency areas that were identified in the occupational analysis are measured through multiple selection hurdles including application, structured phone interview, reference verification, and an in-country assessment center. VIF’s innovative in-country assessment center includes a lesson plan submission and presentation (with standardized rating rubric), writing sample in-basket exercise, and structured personal interview with behaviorally-benchmarked response scoring.

The assessment center is conducted by VIF’s highly trained and experienced International Representatives from major teacher recruitment regions (Latin America, Oceania, Europe, and Canada).

Turnkey Service

Host schools have the ability to view video clips, online profiles and résumés from their desk. After a prospective candidate is chosen, VIF will handle all the details of relocation, including visas, work authorizations and teacher licenses. When VIF teachers arrive at their new school, they are prepared, settled and ready to teach.

Teacher Support

VIF teachers inspire students to achieve, encourage and embrace diverse perspectives, and foster critical thinking and discussion about global issues. In addition to logistical resources, VIF pairs all of its educators with an experienced U.S. teacher who provides one-on-one mentoring, observation, and professional development.
